We applied to the State of Washington for a 501(c)(3) Masters License and Non-Profit license for the Group.
We were deeply involved in the Alternative Energy Expo and setting up the Speaker's Symposium.
April 2008 Alternative Energy Meeting Agenda: Scott Johnson, President of Gen-X Energies came and spoke to us at our April meeting on how his company produces clear biodiesel from animal tallow they get from Tyson Foods in Wallula for processing in their biodiesel plant in Burbank, WA. Warren Wittekind also spoke to us about the Orion Project he is involved with. They are attempting to raise $3 million by the end of May to promote development of Hydroxy Gas Energy Systems and Thermal Exchange Motors.
Green Power has agreed to come speak to us about their system to convert pelletized organic waste into "nandiesel" at a later date, once they get their system online.
March 2008 Alternative Energy User Group meeting results - Bill Kinney talked to us about fuel efficient mind and vehicle philosophies, tips and techniques and Hypermiling and showed us his Honda Insight and explained how his friends get close to 100 miles per tank.
Darroll Clark spoke to us about the upcoming Alternative Energy Expo April 25-26 and our participation. Robert Pritchett signed a contract to be a co-coordinator.
Dennis Houghton has created the Alternative Energy User Group Newsletter "Un-Plugged, Not Disconnected". It is a 4-page PDF at around 269K. It is Lower Columbia Basin Region-centric, so think "Tri-Cities, Washington" (Pasco, Richland, Kennewick and surrounding communities) when reading it. (Best read using the lastest Adobe Reader.)
February 2008 Ginger Wireman spoke to us about the e3 Washington events in our Feb 1 Alternative Energy User Group meeting. Jessica Geenen also spoke to us about the Mid-Columbia Sustainable Business Network activities and invited all Alternative Energy User Group attendees to participate. We attended.
January 2008 Seth Poulson and Rocco Luongo from Infinia Corporation gave their presentations at the January Alternative Energy User Group meeting on January 4. Patrlck Noland spoke out on KNDU about the meeting on January 2nd.Over 25 people participated. The HomePower magazine December/January issue was distributed. Combo LED flexlights and laser pointers were also handed out to attendees.
December 2007 Dennis Houghton gave his PV Basics presentation at the 2nd Alternative Energy User Group meeting on December 7th.
November 2007 Our first Alternative Energy User Group meeting was held November 6 at the Richland Public Library. Around 30 individuals participated. Robert Pritchett was interviewed by KVEW channel 42 and it was shown at 5 PM as local news announcing the meeting. Dennis Houghton also was shown discussing PV solar at the Electrical Training Center. Representatives from two new alternative energy businesses introduced themselves - Columbia Basin Solar (installers) and NH Three, LLC (ammonia as a fuel cell).
